2/29/12

I had a nearly full day at work followed by a two hour meeting to kick off 2 1/2 days of professional training...it was in this training last June and November that I heard again how important food and sleep were! I'm proud to have taken steps to make permanent lifestyle changes!

I started the day by biking with my daughter to school--a short 15-20 minutes of activity, earning me 2 activity points. Good thing, as I was super hungry today and I also enjoyed a chicken burger on the run tonight. Had to cash in 10 points to cover today's food. I was proud that I skipped the fries and soda!

Forgot to take a pic of me biking...

It wasn't a great veggie day...I'll work on that tomorrow!

This was the first bread day since opening the school in August 2006 that I skipped. That wonderful fresh bread with slabs of cold butter is a slippery slope for me. While I'm entirely ok with having some, today I didn't even need it because I was full and satisfied. So, I surprised myself and passed!

I ate lunch too late, so I grabbed the cheese spread and a Wasa cracker. Should have added a veggie or fruit!

Chicken burger from P. Terry's...

My beloved dark, dark chocolate. 82%, I think.

Late night shredded lean grass fed beef roast. Yum!

2/28/12

Today I accomplished something that is always on the back of my mind, but that I rarely have presence of mind to do--I worked out during my work day! On the play yard, I did 6 or 7 sets of squats with kids on my back. I also lifted logs for some bicep and tricep work. Later, I pulled out my yoga mat and did push ups, downward dogs, and leg scissors. It felt great. About two hours later, that delicious fatigue from a good workout set in! (My workout photos are by kids, thus the strange positioning!)

It was a good food day! Lots of veggies.

Two cups of coffee with half and half, followed by a cup of nonfat Greek yogurt, blueberries, and honey...kept me full until 2 PM.

1/2 an apple...

Late lunch...cabbage and carrots (slaw mix) w/ raisins, almonds, 1tsp olive oil, and Bragg's cider vinegar...

More lunch...3 oz grass fed burger fried with mushrooms and shallots, a little ketchup and mustard...

Dinner...taco meat over our homegrown spinach, tomatoes, a little shredded cheese, hot sauce, and 2 T sour cream...

Food journal...

I earned 2 activity points today, for a total of 13 this week. I ended the day with one Daily Points Plus unused. My goal this week was Weight Watcher's goal of 14 activity points, eventually working up to 28/42 each week.

2/26/12. I love my bike.

I love my bike! I have rediscovered a passion from my childhood--riding my bike. My cruiser makes me feel strong and free, just like I did on my bike as a kid. Some of my favorite memories are biking at the beach on family vacations growing up--especially at Rehobeth Beach, Delaware and Chincoteague Island, Virginia. For several Sundays, I have enjoyed the bike trails in the park system near my house, often with one or more of my three kids.

Bacon and egg breakfast...

My partners...they travelled several miles and loved splashing through puddles!

Me and my cruiser...

Snack...macadamia nuts, clementine orange, banana.

My son's snack in his Planet Box...

Water bottles go in the Whole Foods wine bag, jackets, lunch boxes, a box of band aids, all laced down to my Coke crate with a bungee.

I estimate that I biked about 8 miles!

Here is my post-ride salad...
Turkey, avocado, salad greens, carrots, celery, homemade balsamic vinaigrette...

Dinner...pork tenderloin and asparagus with a red wine butter sauce.

Making mealtime special...the kids light the candles. Three kids, three candles.

Still a little hungry after dinner...fat satiates. In this case, a tablespoon of butter "cheese".

Thought I'd start sharing a daily glimpse of my food log...

A late breakfast of egg salad, Wasa crackers, carrots...it kept me full until 3:30!

Banana...

Miso soup with mixed vegetables made for a new afternoon snack and it was a great way to get veggies in...

Turkey slices (not pictured) and peanuts before a meeting at my daughter's school...

Celery sticks, roast chicken breast, home-grown salad greens, homemade honey mustard dressing...

One divine ounce of super-dark chocolate...

Remnant of my daughter's egg taco (scrambled egg in a flour tortilla)...

2 Wasa crackers, almond butter, carrots, and apple...

Bread w/ butter...I had to have the tray carried off before I ate more!  (Every Wednesday is bread day at school!)

A bad pic of birdseed bars (local granola bars)...

Beef stirfry...carrots and peas from our garden...

2/21/12

Busy day with work and then a work meeting for 3 hours in the evening! My eating today was light on the fruit/veg, but I felt full and stayed within Weight Watcher's Points.

My son's leftover scrambled egg--I hate to waste.

Mid-morning butter...1T, eaten straight up.

Veggies: cucumber, red pepper, celery.

Egg salad (2 eggs, mayo, mustard)...

2 rice cakes...

Tortilla soup (shredded ckn, broth) w/ one small avocado...I'm almost fine here.

After the meeting I enjoyed 2 beef meatballs that my husband had cooked in homemade marinara. Delicious!
